Description:

When you hear the word “nudism,” everyone imagines something different. Some think of freedom and harmony with nature, while others picture eccentric oddities. In reality, nudism in Estonia is a perfectly normal phenomenon, and places for it have existed for many years. The only officially recognized nudist beach in Estonia is located in Narva-Jõesuu. It gained official status in 2007, when the Narva-Jõesuu authorities signed an agreement with the Nude Association to provide part of the coastline for those who want to sunbathe without swimsuits. Before that, the beach had existed unofficially for more than 20 years. But there are other long‑established spots as well. In Pärnu, there is a women’s beach marked with signs, and nearby, closer to the river, there is an unofficial nudist beach in the dunes. One of the unofficial nudist beaches is in Tallinn, on the Paljassaare Peninsula, along the Pikakari coast, about fifty meters from the Katarina pier. Its privacy leaves something to be desired, as a tourist trail runs nearby. Another unofficial beach is located in one of Estonia’s most beautiful corners, Laulasmaa, near the surf club. If that’s not enough, our neighbors in Latvia have plenty of such places. The nearest beach, considered one of the best in Europe, is in Saulkrasti, right next to the famous White Dune. The rules are simple: respect other people’s space, don’t take photos, don’t stare. Everything else depends on your taste and mood. Many mistakenly think that a nudist beach is something overly provocative or explicit. In reality, the atmosphere here is much calmer than on regular beaches. No one is trying to shock anyone — everyone simply relaxes and feels natural. Today, nudist beaches are not about showing off. They are about health, relaxation, and trust in the people around you. You can meet anyone here: students, tourists, couples, or just those who are tired of extra clothing. So, if you decide to visit a nudist beach, the most important thing is to come with the right mindset. This is not a place for peeking — it is a space for respectful and natural relaxation. And don’t forget sunscreen… because here, your tan will be perfectly even. And where there’s an even tan, there’s a good mood!
