The reviewer decided to learn welding and chose the inexpensive Elitech AIS 200 SYN for his first attempts. After two years of use he found the machine adequate for arc welding but with several significant shortcomings. The TIG mode is unusable because the electrode sticks and the tungsten must be constantly sharpened. The mass cable is short, poorly insulated, and its aluminum sheath burns quickly. The Euro connector on the torch is flimsy, and changing polarity requires a long hex key or screwdriver. A major flaw is a glitch that prevents the arc from igniting when feeding wire, especially during short or point welds. Internal electronics lack proper sealing, so dust and metal powder can accumulate and cause failures. Overall, the unit is a decent budget option for arc welding but not suitable for TIG, and it requires frequent adjustments and component replacements.
