Polar bear biopsies shed light on Arctic pollutants | AFP #shorts

In April, AFP followed a scientific pioneering expedition in Norway’s Svalbard. The mission carried out the first biopsies of fatty tissue on polar bears on the Arctic archipelago to assess the impact of pollutants on their health. The Arctic region is warming at four times the global average, putting mounting pressure on the iconic predators as their sea-ice habitat shrinks.
