POLL: Third of Non-Trump Voters Think USA Is ‘Dictatorship’

A recent YouGov poll shows that over a third of Americans who do not support President Trump believe that the United States is already in a dictatorship.

Among Democrats, 35% agree with this view, and 30% of independents also share the belief, while only 7% of Trump voters do.

This perception has grown since early 2025 with critics like California Governor Gavin Newsom comparing President Trump's actions and events like a military parade to those of authoritarian regimes, Mediate has reported.
