It was deep, it was soulful, it was techno, it was disco.

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen.

A kaleidoscope of sounds, it was truly underground.

This is Amelie Lins.

An essential mix in the cloud where we can dance and sing out loud.

Raise your hands in the air and let's do a mic check.

Make some noise!

I must have went to house heaven because nothing's that divine.

Speaker 1

Hi, this is Pete Tong welcoming you to the legendary Essential Mix on BBC Radio 1 and Radio 1 Dance.

And for this special edition on BBC iPlayer and Radio 1's YouTube channel.

We brought our audio recorders and cameras to the Warehouse Project in Manchester to capture two sets from one of Radio 1's Sound of 2025 artists.

In 60 minutes, you'll hear him in DJ mode, live on the decks in the massive depot.

But for the first hour, we find him with his band.

This is the one and only Barry Can't Swim.

We try and envision a religion that's based upon smooth transitions in rhythm like a conjugations across nations celebrating the fact that the weekend has landed, see.

We don't believe in omnipotent beings in the skies above all that exists now is peace, love, and green doves.

See, in our church, we don't recite passage.

We keep oil and saffron as we listen to Nina Kravitz and we patiently wait at pearly gates overlaid and closed somewhere in the early hours.

And our church is teeming with sinners in need of redeeming.

Heathens ready to believe what we believe in.

It's based upon smooth transitions and

I can literally feel the music.

I am a minister of sound.

I've got a choir of high-definition speakers blasting me with, blasting me, and sacrilege instruments.

I've got a glorious chorus.

Based upon smooth transitions and rhythm Like conjugations across nations Celebrating the fact that We're Hood Project has land the scene Listen Forceful I could have grabbed the DJ Fixed the switches and triggers And mixed the princess kiss That I just never heard before But I am convinced that those who aren't They scream one more tune

He says, Jack, go in peace and love, but for God's sake, kid, now stay off the drugs.

And this is the gospel according to some dead beat.

Speaker 15

Little pain in my heart Little pain in my heart Love me, love me Little pain in my heart

in my heart they're cleaning my heart love me

A little strange

They're failing now They're failing now

Speaker 25

Whenever we play this tune, yeah, we always get people up on shoulders, come on.

This is the last time we're gonna be playing this live for a long time.

I wanna see yous up, come on.
