Happy Birthday, Jason - we miss you. The raw footage for this video was recorded on Saturday November 29th, 1997 in the basement of Secretly Canadian HQ1 in Bloomington, Indiana. That afternoon, Jason played along to an early, alternate take of "Champion" recorded the previous month (the Axxess version wasn't recorded until February 1998). The early version had a slightly different pace so it was very tricky to find sections that aligned with the released take of "Champion" which I used for this video. That, on top of the poor quality of the footage and "debris" behind Jason made this an exceptionally challenging video to create. Again, I'm not a professional director/editor but I wanted to share this tribute to Jason and what I believe to be one of the most beautiful songs he ever wrote.
