Sonic The Hedgehog 2006: Last Story - Final Stage: End Of The World

After completing all three character stories, the final stage unlocks, offering one last chance to save the world. Mephiles, having survived his battle against Shadow, obtains a Chaos Emerald and uses it to distract Sonic and Elise, killing Sonic and causing Elise to cry, which releases Iblis. With Iblis freed, Mephiles merges with him to become Solaris again, erasing time and space and trapping the heroes in a void. Though Sonic is dead, Elise senses his presence in the wind, giving hope to restore him. The heroes split up to collect the Chaos Emeralds, revisiting earlier levels with different characters—Crisis City with Tails, Flame Core with Omega, Tropical Jungle with Knuckles, Dusty Desert with Silver, Wave Ocean with Rouge, White Acropolis with Amy, and Kingdom Valley with Shadow—while avoiding giant red and purple portals that attack or suck the player. The stage is challenging, especially Silver’s section, and any mistake forces a restart, making it a frustrating but crucial final part of the playthrough.
