On May 20, 2018, I went fishing in the Ilyva River in Perm Krai. I brought only spinning gear and improvised a spoon from available materials to catch peaceful fish. The river was wide, 2–3 km, and the water was rising, flooding islands. I expected to catch a predator, but the conditions were poor and the fish were scarce. Despite that, I caught a pike‑perch that caught my attention. I have been fishing daily regardless of weather, and this catch was a reminder that even on a bad day, fish can still be found.
