Walk with me on this fascinating journey through Fernham and beuatiful English Village in Oxfordshire, England. St John's Church was built in 1861 through public subscription after the vicar of Longcot, moved by the hardships of his parishioners, bought land in Fernham. In 2008, this historic church underwent a controversial transformation with a £90,000 grant from the Big Lottery Fund, converting its Victorian interior into a modern village hall. In 1915, the village shop and Post Office were housed in the first cottage and run by David Brown. There was railway closures by British Railways, which ceased passenger services in 1951 and ended freight traffic in 1964. 2001 Census recorded a small but vibrant community with a population of 208.
