Description:

After the Russians approached Pokrovsk, they are trying to bypass the city, capture villages on the flanks, and cut off the supply routes for Ukrainian troops in Pokrovsk. In some communities in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, the front is only 5 to 10 kilometers away. These communities are being shelled by multiple rocket launch systems (MRLS), artillery, and bombs are being dropped. "We left our home and moved here. My mother-in-law used to live here, but she passed away," says displaced person Lydia. Together with her family, she moved here from the Novohrodivska community in Donetsk region when the Russians were advancing in the fall of 2024. "We are not needed here either," Lydia continues. "Where can we rent a house? We need money, but we have none. My husband and I aren't receiving anything, [no] IDP status was given. They told me to go to work, but where would I find a job here? I would clean floors. My husband had a stroke, he worked in Donetsk, in 2014 he fled from there, all our documents were left behind, we don’t have a work record book." During our trip to Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, we met many displaced persons from Donetsk region, who are once again forced to think about where to flee if the situation continues to escape.
