The scale of automated nuclear weapons systems. Evil space.

The paper examines the concept of an automated nuclear retaliatory strike system known as the "Dead Hand" – a Soviet (and possibly modern Russian) project created at the height of the Cold War. The historical context of its emergence, the technical principles of operation, as well as the philosophical and ethical aspects of the existence of such a mechanism are analyzed. Particular attention is paid to the role of the "Dead Hand" as a factor of strategic deterrence and a symbol of an inexorable apocalyptic scenario in which the decision about the end of the world can be transferred to a machine. The question of why a doomsday system is not only possible, but also integrated into the logic of nuclear confrontation remains the central topic of the study.
