U.S. President Donald Trump announced early on Tuesday that a, quote, complete and total ceasefire between Israel and Iran was fully agreed to.
According to Trump, the ceasefire is to be phased in over 24 hours, with Iran starting the cessation of hostilities for 12 hours, followed by Israel.
After both parties have paused their military operations, Trump says an official end to what he attempted to coin as the 12-day war begins.
The announcement was made in a post on Trump's own social media platform, Truth Social, shortly before the U.S. president departed Washington for The Hague to attend the NATO summit.
Trump says the ceasefire was co-brokered with Qatar, with Amir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani playing an important role in landing the truce.
There's been no confirmation from the Iranian side on whether a deal is in fact in place.
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Arakci stated in a post on X that there's currently no agreement.
He did however stipulate that if Israel halts all its illegal aggressions by 4 a.m. Tehran time, then Iran would reciprocate.
Iranian attacks on Israel continued in the early hours of Tuesday morning up until the 4 a.m. deadline.
Sirens sounded in parts of southern Israel as officials continued to urge the public to seek shelter.
Footage released by Israeli officials showed a building complex badly damaged by the latest wave of Iranian strikes.
