Iran has the capacity to resume uranium enrichment for a possible bomb within months, says Rafael Grossi, head of the IAEA, after US strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites caused severe but not total damage. This contradicts President Donald Trump's claim that the bombings had completely destroyed the facilities. Iran’s deputy foreign minister Majid Takht‑Ravanchi told the BBC that the US must rule out further strikes if diplomatic talks are to resume, noting that the Trump administration has not clarified whether it would conduct additional attacks during negotiations. Israel attacked Iranian nuclear and military sites on 13 June, claiming Iran was close to building a nuclear weapon, and the US later joined the strikes, bombing Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan. The true extent of the damage remains unclear, but a leaked US intelligence report suggests the strikes only set back the enrichment programme by months. Trump responded angrily, declaring the sites were completely destroyed and accusing the media of attempting to demean the military strikes. Reeta Chakrabarti presents BBC News at Ten, reporting by Lyse Doucet from Tehran.
