The head of the United Nations World Food Programme has told Sky News that 500,000 people are catastrophically food insecure in Gaza because of limited access to aid. Cindy McCain also said there was no evidence Hamas was stealing aid while it was being delivered to the civilian population. Israel has been accused of weaponising food following a blockade of Gaza that began in March. It has now lifted the restrictions but is refusing to let the UN distribute food, instead using a US company. Dozens of Palestinians have since been killed around the new aid hubs by the IDF.
