This song was part of Fairuz's 1968 Lebanese‑Syrian film "Safar Barlik", directed by Henry Barakat and starring Fairuz, Nasri Shamseddine, Assi Rahbani, Rafiq Subaie, Berj Fazlian, Salah Tizani, and Salwa Haddad. The film, written and composed by the Rahbani brothers, was filmed in Beit Chabab, Lebanon, and possibly Syria, and is set in 1914. It portrays the struggles of a Lebanese village attempting to smuggle wheat under Ottoman oppression during the era of "Safarberlik", the conscription practices of the late Ottoman wars.
