At least seven dead in Colombia attacks, local media reports

At least seven people, including two police officers, were killed in a wave of coordinated bomb and gun attacks in southwestern Colombia, targeting Cali and surrounding towns. The attacks involved car and motorcycle bombs, rifle fire, and a suspected drone, with up to 50 injured. Authorities suspect a faction of the former FARC guerrilla group may be responsible. Colombia’s Ministry of Defence linked the violence to armed groups retaliating against recent military operations, the BBC has reported. The unrest follows an attempted assassination of presidential candidate Miguel Uribe Turbay in Bogotá, for which a 15-year-old suspect has been detained.
