简介:

Far from civilization, the hustle and bustle, amidst the vast expanses, lives the northern Khanty people. The Khanty are an indigenous Finno‑Ugric people living in the north of Western Siberia, primarily in the Khanty‑Mansi Autonomous Okrug (Yugra). Their unique way of life is based on harmony with nature, traditional crafts—fishing, hunting, and reindeer herding—and a deep reverence for the spirits of nature, manifested in rituals, myths, and a special relationship with the land, where reindeer are the basis of life. They live in various types of dwellings: izba (wood huts) in winter and tents in summer, preserving family values and involving children in labor. Their culture is rich in the art of fur embroidery, beadwork, wood carving, and a unique language. Irina Dmitrievna and Leonid Vasilyevich lead a traditional lifestyle, living in a camp and herding reindeer, gathering wild plants, and fishing. They live alone, but sometimes their children and grandchildren come to the camp to join them. In the fall, they gather berries and cedar cones, which they then sell—this is their main source of income.
