Life of the Ocean 8K ULTRA HD - 500 species of sea creatures with relaxing music and ocean sounds

The oceans are endangered yet teeming with life, with an average of four new species added to the marine catalog each day. Researchers worldwide contribute daily chapters to this ever‑expanding book, and in a single update, 1,451 species discovered last year were added. Over the past eight years, more than 200 editors have identified that nearly half of the species named in the last 250 years are duplicates, and 190,400 duplicate names have been removed. After meticulously analyzing 419,000 species records and eliminating duplicates, scientists from the World Register of Marine Species (WoRMS) now report 228,450 distinct species. Among the new additions are 122 sharks and rays, 131 new gobies, and a single new barracuda found in the Mediterranean Sea. Of the known species, about 195,000 (86%) are marine animals, including 18,000 fish described since the mid‑1700s, more than 1,800 starfish, 816 squid, 93 whales and dolphins, and roughly 8,900 mussels and other molluscs. Since 2008, the average number of species discovered has been ten per month, indicating that much remains to be documented about the marine environment.
