Millions are evacuated in Japan after an 8.8 magnitude earthquake, one of the strongest ever recorded, hits Russia’s eastern coast. Tsunami alerts of varying levels have also been issued in parts of China, the Philippines, Indonesia, Guam, Peru and the Galapagos Islands off Ecuador.
