Trenches, dugouts, positions…- Ukrainian drones destroyed over 83,000 targets in a month

In April 2025, the unmanned systems units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces hit and destroyed more than 83,000 enemy targets with drones, an 8% increase over March and a 5% rise in effectiveness. Commander‑in‑Chief Oleksandr Syrsky announced the figures at the monthly unmanned systems meeting, praising UAV operators for their results and stressing the need for continued advancement and scaling of drone efforts. He highlighted the importance of combat experience, organizational and technological know-how, and solutions to operational challenges. Syrsky noted that the UAV direction is a priority because it allows the army to deter and destroy the enemy from a distance, preserving infantry lives. The Defense Forces are working to expand BfS units to brigades and regiments, staff them, and build capabilities. Training of UAV operators is increasing, with civilian schools also involved. A roadmap for a collective UAV training system has been developed, aiming to destroy Russian drone operators and control points. Syrsky emphasized successful combat testing in operational zones and urged maintaining a high pace to stay ahead of the enemy in modern technological solutions on the battlefield, leveraging all army, societal, industrial, and partner country resources.
