Young woman's death was 'murder waiting to happen'

The family of slain Australian woman Dannielle Finlay-Jones have called for reform after her teacher’s death allegedly at the hands of her new partner. Ms Finlay-Jones was found dead inside a friend’s home in Cranebrook, Sydney’s north‑west, in December 2022. Ashley Gaddie, whom she had just begun dating, was arrested for her murder following a 12‑hour stand‑off with police in the Blue Mountains. In 2024, he was found dead in his jail cell where he had been held on remand since his arrest. Speaking to news.com.au, the young woman’s mother and brother expressed their heartbreak and determination to prevent similar tragedies for other young women.
