The video was filmed between 1986 and 1987 at StratusDanceClub, a San Diego suburb venue that served as a preeminent alcohol‑free, under‑21 dance club. Opened in May 1978, the club featured a “Saturday Night Fever”‑style illuminated dance floor and evolved its music format over the years to include soul, new wave, gothic, hip‑hop, rap, and live music. It attracted young adults from as far north as Los Angeles and hosted performances by artists such as Big Audio Dynamite, The Chameleons UK, The Mighty Lemon Drops, L.A. Guns, Faster Pussycat, Nocera, and the Fat Boys. Weekly promotions were run by San Diego’s top radio stations, including 92.5 FM (soul) and 91X Rock of the ’80s. After nearly a decade as the epicenter of entertainment for young adults in San Diego County, Stratus closed its doors for the last time on June 3, 1987.
