A Bug's Life: The Video Game is based on the Pixar movie and was released in November 1998 for PlayStation, PC, Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Color. Every year on Ant Island the colony, led by Queen Ant and Princess Atta, works tirelessly to gather food for winter, while the cold‑hearted Hopper and his horde of grasshoppers extort the ants’ supplies. Flik, a klutzy but inventive worker, builds a harvesting contraption that goes out of control and destroys the ants’ food offering, provoking Hopper’s fury and his demand for twice the food. Flik is put on trial for the mishap and, unable to explain, suggests finding bigger bugs to defend the colony. Princess Atta grants his request, hoping to keep Flik away from the colony’s troubles. Flik then leaves the island to search for tough bugs, unaware that the colony is eager to see him go. Once he reaches the outside world, the adventures that await will change him and Ant Island forever. The player controls Flik, who can run, jump, attack with berries, pick up items, grow and throw plants, use a grain harvester, kick, spin, butt‑bounce, swing, and slide.
