A breeze flutters through the trees. No call, sound, or whisper is heard in the night’s silence, yet love echoes in the shaded window, or perhaps it was a dream. The narrator questions the madness of speaking to an old window, and wonders if the night spent in a single feeling, in an empty window. They meet coldly in the day, the living flame extinguishing the gloomy day, and the narrator cannot recall the lonely night or the swift shadow.
