The UN has said nearly one‑in‑three people in Gaza are not eating for days at a time, warning that 90,000 women and children are in urgent need of treatment. Earlier this year, Israel temporarily blocked the entry of all humanitarian aid into Gaza, then backed a new mechanism for the distribution of supplies through the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF). Since its implementation, more than a thousand Palestinians have been killed while seeking aid, according to the UN, which has described the system as a death trap.
