Ancient Historian DESTROYS everything we thought about the BIBLE

Professor Gad Barnea is a lecturer in Jewish history and biblical studies at the University of Haifa and a research fellow in the "Bible in its Traditions" project. His work focuses on Yahwism during the Iranian Age of Empires, exploring the influence of Achaemenid and Sassanian empires on the Hebrew Bible, apocrypha, early Christianity, and Jewish mysticism. He has contributed to studies of early Zoroastrianism and Yahwism, published epigraphic findings such as a misread ostracon from Elephantine that documents a Jewish female temple officiant and a curse text, and restored a Qumran scroll revealing an Achaemenid court tale. Barnea also co‑edited the forthcoming volume "Yahwism under the Achaemenid Empire" and collaborates internationally on projects that apply digital humanities methods to Jewish epigraphy.
