In this video, I walk into the street markets in Cairo that tourists never see, showing the real side of Egypt beyond the pyramids. The markets feature fish stalls, chicken slaughter, meat stands, bakeries, and chaotic street life. The fish are sold in the heat, chickens are slaughtered before your eyes, meats are stamped and hung on the street. The hygiene, prices, and daily life differ from what we know. The cheap prices hide the struggle of unemployment and low income. The video also shows the risk of filming in these streets, the tension when women are filmed, the sudden changes in gaze, and the people walking on you. The video also shows the food like lahmacun, the Ottoman culinary traces, the animals living on the street, the cars and motorcycles entering narrow spaces, the chaos, noise, and confusion. The video briefly shows the real face of Egypt, the markets tourists avoid, why the camera draws reactions, and the real difficulty behind the cheap life.
