In the vast, northern land of Hokkaido during the early 20th century, war veteran Saichi Sugimoto, known as the "immortal" for his battlefield prowess, seeks a hidden trove of gold stolen from an Ainu tribe. He learns that the gold was concealed by the thief Noppera‑Bo, who left a code in the tattoos of 24 fellow inmates to reveal its location. After a wild bear attack, Sugimoto is rescued by Asirpa, an Ainu girl whose father was killed by the same thief, and the two form an uneasy alliance to find the treasure. Meanwhile, Tokushiro Tsurumi, a lieutenant of the Imperial Japanese Army, and Toshizo Hijikata, a former Shinsengumi commander, also pursue the gold for their own ambitions. The trio—Sugimoto, Asirpa, Tsurumi, and Hijikata—race across the harsh Hokkaido wilderness, each vying for riches and survival in a brutal three‑way showdown.
