This woman, Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, lectured India on human rights and subsequently lost everything. In 2018, Mahathir Mohamad became prime minister of Malaysia and appointed her as the country's first female deputy prime minister, a role that made her even more influential than the prime minister. In August 2019, India abrogated Article 370, ending the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, a move that Mahathir opposed at the United Nations. Wan Azizah went further, advising India not to violate human rights. India had been importing billions of dollars of palm oil from Malaysia, which was suddenly stopped, directly impacting Malaysia's economy. Within a few months, the Malaysian government collapsed and Wan Azizah was removed from her post. The new government that came to power afterward prioritized improving relations with India.
