India has signaled to Pakistan that following the Pahalgam terror attack, there will be no business as usual. It has taken five major steps to target Pakistan for its support of cross-border terror: putting the Indus Waters Treaty on hold, shutting the Attari integrated check post, scrapping the SAARC visa scheme for Pakistanis, ordering the military advisers in the Pakistan mission to leave, and scaling back the High Commission strength to 30. Pakistan has retaliated with diplomatic measures, including closing its airspace to Indian airlines and shutting the land border. Islamabad has warned that any attempt to divert the waters of the Indus River will be an act of war.
