Some are obvious like Miku and Solaria. Others might be obscure like in the dance crowd at the end. One of them is Jyoze, an UTAU made by a YouTuber that inspired me to do Vocalsynth covers. - The art style came from frustration. Art gets expensive, especially when I wanted a new drawing every other lyric section. Teto has gotten pretty popular lately. So if this was going to be the gateway song where I get the most attention, then I might as well put some effort into it. I was originally going to animate this in Garry's Mod, using Teto's SynthV2 model. But modelling ragdolls was frustrating. Then I decided to take screenshots in GMod and just draw over them. But that somehow took just as long. So I decided to just draw simple chess piece models. I wanted to give it some semblance of style. So in photoshop, I drew the characters, added 1 pixel border, and then applied a mosaic filter with 4-6 squares. It ended up looking like MSPaint, and I love how it looks.! - You might notice that Teto goes back and forth from having a nose. I ended up changing my mind on adding a nose halfway. So now you can tell what was drawn first and last. - I was originally going to do a Power Metal song with Teto. It was also going to be a comedy song where the joke was "I'll save you from the fire breathing dragon that terrorizes our village. Except the fire is my fault, because I left the oven on before going to sleep". It's currently shelved. It wasn't as funny as I thought. I might re-use it at some point as a more serious song. If you head a song with the lyrics "When the fire is gone, we will meet again" then you know it used to be a Teto demo :3 - The idea for this song came from seeing different posts about Ragebaiting where the goal is to purposely make people mad. That inspired the lyric "If I am pissing you off, then mission accomplished!" and after that, the rest of the song came naturally. The most fun part was to look up Ragebait posts and take some inspiration from those into the song. - Final fun fact: When the video was complete and scheduled, "Rage Bait" (with space) became word of the year.
