I was on a business trip and decided to fish on the Kuban River using a float line without rings, equipped with a silent rig. I brought bait, a chair, a small tent, and worm and maggots from local tackle shops. I arrived in the afternoon, had about two hours to fish before I had to return home. I mixed bait for running water, set the float depth to about 4 meters, and started feeding the line. I made a mistake by dumping all the bait at once, which upset the carp I was targeting. The float drifted left and right, then stopped as if in a still pond, and the current made the line behave erratically. The heavy bait attracted only a few carp, but pike and perch responded to the feed. Despite the tactical error, I caught a fish. All bites came as expected on the float; when the current slackened and the float stopped, the bites ceased. Fishing with a fly rod in a running river is demanding in terms of gear and technique.
