And doing an upper body workout is probably about the last thing you have on your mind, but getting your arms stronger will help with your mobility for however long you need to use the crutches. But always listen to your body if it hurts, stop! I took up motorcycle racing at the local track. I got a little too zealous on the startup and wheelied my bike rignt out from under me and landed on my left knee ripping my ACL right off of the lower bone. I didn't think this was a big deal because I didn't know it was so bad. I just thought it was a sprain. So with some help I got back on the bike and finished the races for the day. Then when it was unbearable, I went to the hospital and found out just how bad it was later. I ended up needing surgery and was on crutches for three months.
