Healing and restoring wounds with Dr. Ruff in the OR – Watch him perform a debridement of a knee wound. Dr. Ruff finishes off the treatment with an application of an amniotic membrane onto the patient's wound – this is where things get interesting! The amniotic tissue used comes from the amnion itself, the membrane that encloses a baby inside of a womb. Thanks to advances in medicine, we are now able to preserve some of that tissue and use it in cases like these. Once applied onto the wound, the amniotic membrane will signal the patient's own cells to produce healing factors, causing boosted tissue regeneration and healing. The patient will follow up in about two weeks for the final, injectable portion of the treatment.
