Skokiaan was originally written by Zimbabwean musician August Musarurwa. This recording is from Bill Haley & His Comets’ final album for Decca Records in 1959, which consisted entirely of instrumental tracks and reflected Haley’s experimentation with new musical directions. It reached the US charts in 1960 and, aside from later reissues of "Rock Around the Clock," was the last new Haley recording to chart in the United States. Haley continued to score hits in Mexico and other countries well into the 1960s.
