NORINCO QLU-11 Sniper Grenade Launcher (China)

The LG5 “sniper” grenade launcher, inspired by the Barrett XM109, was designed in 2011 and is available in two variants: the export‑only LG5, which fires NATO‑standard 40mm high‑velocity grenades, and the domestic QLU‑11, which uses China’s 35mm ammunition. The LG5 comes in a lightweight, one‑man version (LG5s) that can be fired from a bipod at up to 1,000 m, and a tripod‑mounted version with larger magazines for extended range or area fire. The LG5s boasts a 3‑round R100 accuracy of 1 m at 600 m when using BGJ‑5 40mm “sniper grade” HE‑DP rounds, allowing it to hit a house window or door with three successive shots. While accuracy data for the 35mm QLU‑11 are not yet available, both launchers use a long‑recoil semi‑automatic action, feed from detachable drum magazines (3–15 rounds for 40mm, 3–7 rounds for 35mm), and feature an integral folding bipod, optional Picatinny rail, and optional electro‑optical sight with laser rangefinder and ballistic computer.
