Main Theme | Pirates of the Caribbean

The main theme of Pirates of the Caribbean, more commonly known as ‘He’s A Pirate’, is possibly the most well‑known movie theme of the 21st century. It’s upbeat, thrilling and adventurous, never failing to put a smile on my face and to make me visualise the vast oceans and wish I was part of the Black Pearl’s crew. Although Klaus Badelt composed the score for ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl’ (2003), it was Hans Zimmer who wrote the themes for the movie. Zimmer was contractually bound to ‘The Last Samurai’ (2003) and was legally unable to compose the score for the film, so he worked “behind the scenes”, writing, producing, editing and programming the music. Zimmer composed the themes for the film and then had his student, Klaus Badelt, take over and score the rest of the film. This video is not a complete collection of every appearance of the main theme throughout the series, but rather a suite that highlights the main theme.
